Turning God's Vision Into Action
Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Naomi's Place Inc. emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words.
Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.
Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.
Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing.
Established in 1999 on the cusp of 2000, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Contact us to learn more and get involved.
Services Offered
Naomi's Place was established as a one to two year program that offers transitional housing to homeless women and children with a broad range of needs. The program helps individuals achieve and sustain a higher quality of life through resources and various training opportunities. The transitional housing program provided an opportunity for homeless individuals to save money for a future residence, gain information and access to services they need. Individuals meet with assigned financial mentors every week and participate in structured programs where their needs can be met.
Naomi's Place Transitional Housing Program has always had specialized services and referrals to individuals based on their needs. Each individual develops goals with his/her assigned mentor and establishes a service plan with each resident. In case of job loss each individual is assisted with identifying and obtaining stable income. Examples of general services and referrals provided by Naomi's Place are as follows:
Financial Mentoring
Transportation
Mental Health Services
Substance Abuse Services
Food
Further Transitional and/or Permanent Housing Options
Educational Opportunities
Counseling
Clothing
The staff empowers their clients to live a life of self-sufficiency during and after they leave the program. This is accomplished through promoting productive activities, as well as by providing encouragement, education and support. The program collaborates with other agencies in the community to assist the individual in attaining the most effective, beneficial services available.
